Special presentation: Cyber-bullying and teens

On Monday, January 14th, from 7-9 pm, The Earl of March Secondary School Council is pleased to host an important keynote presentation on the cyber-bullying of teens in our communities and how we can address this issue as parents, working together with our teenagers and our schools.

Councillor Allan Hubley, representing Kanata South-Ward 23, is a passionate champion and leader in our community, actively promoting youth mental health and anti-bullying initiatives.
As Parliamentarians work on a National Bullying Prevention Strategy, and, as community leaders, health professionals and concerned parents and youth put in place concrete measures to help those who are on the receiving end of bullying, come and join Councillor Hubley, parents, teachers and students at the Earl of March presentation to discuss what you can do to support our teenagers.

CBC News noted recently that, “ …a study published in the medical Journal of Pediatrics found that about one in seven Canadian children aged 11 to 16 are victims of bullying.” As Kerry-Lynne Findlay, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice observed: “We all recognize bullying is a tragedy. It shouldn’t be and doesn’t have to be a part of growing up; it’s not a rite of passage.”

We look forward to seeing you on Monday, January 14th.
